Inspiring Science, Inspiring Australia: Telling Australia’s Brilliant Stories

28-29 March 2011: at the Arrow on Swanston, Melbourne

The Inspiring Australia initiative, launched in 2010, seeks to generate a coherent, nation-wide approach to the communication of the sciences. It provides, for the first time, an opportunity for a wide range of sectors to work together to build a strong, open relationship between science and society – a scientifically engaged Australia.

As part of the Australian Government’s plan to encourage collaboration and open dialogue, this first Inspiring Australia National Conference brought together representatives from governments; academic, research, cultural and professional institutions; business and industry; media and communications organisations; and community organisations.

The conference, through interactive face-to-face and online sessions, considered key questions relating to the recommendations of the Inspiring Australia report, and developed priorities for us to cooperate on and action over the next year.

Organised by the Royal Institution of Australia (RiAus) for the Australian Government Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (DIISR).
